// the_name
Youtab, meaning "unique" in Old Persian (4th century BC – 330 BC), was an ancient Persian noblewoman and the sister of Ariobarzanes, Satrap of Persis. She is notable for fighting alongside her brother against Alexander the Great at the Battle of the Persian Gate in the winter of 330 BC.
The story has been passed through generations — a symbol of courage, intellect, and standing for what matters even when the odds are impossible.
In primary historical sources the name "Youtab" does not appear as the sister of the Achaemenid Ariobarzanes. The association emerged later during the Parthian period, when a different Ariobarzanes — Ariobarzanes II of Atropatene — is recorded as having a sister named Iotapa, daughter of Artavasdes I of Atropatene.
Over time a historical mix-up occurred, causing a shift in both family identity and chronology — a classic case of anachronism. The legend, however, endures.
